peter maybury and marie-pierre richard. together
they run a design studio producing arts related books, catalogues and websites,
self-published books,
video and photographic projects, works for exhibition, and sound recordings.

peter maybury
peter maybury is an acclaimed designer and typographer. his design work has
featured in 'blueprint' and I.D. magazines 'I.D. forty', and in emigré magazine, with whom he also worked to create 'dreaming out loudest' -
a 72 pp book and audio CD, released as the concluding part in emigré
music's 'dreaming trilogy'. his design work is also featured in recent design
books 'CD art - innovation in CD packaging design' (rotovision), 'the typographic
experiment' (thames & hudson) and 'all messed up unpredictable
graphics' (laurence king). maybury has designed numerous CDs for sub rosa
including the on-going project 'an anthology of noise and electronic music'.
under the hard sleeper. alias he has released recordings on emigré music, tu-m', static caravan, sub
rosa
and fällt, and he contributed a
track to last years DEAF compilation
CD. Reviews of 'land' for fällt, describe
it as "beautifully realised... [a] carefully crafted sense of serene
stillness... maybury constructs something ethereal and sublime from tiny fragments
of melody of detritus" (grooves magazine). "hard sleeper takes us
to a new 'land'... cast adrift in particle subtones, thawing the winter freeze".

jean-yves leloup of trax magazine said of sub rosa release "rain/a leaf
spiral "a masterly title of 23
minutes long, carries the listener away on a fascinating sonic journey."
peter is part of the band 'thread
pulls' playing angular noise/guitar/electronics-based music. november
2004 saw the release
of their début EP "summer songs" on ninepoint records.
he is also part of 'serverproject'
with donnacha costello (minimise, mille plateaux, raster noton),
david donohoe
(minimise, D1, force inc.) and dennis mcnulty (planet-mu, rgc, ),
creating site-specific
networked electronic performances.

marie-pierre richard's background is in film research and festival programming.
in paris she organised retrospectives of many directors and re-issues of classic
french films. marie-pierre programmed the prestigious dublin french film festival
for several years, compiling retrospectives of work by eric rohmer
and alain resnais. she became festival director when she moved to dublin
in 1996 until it's conclusion
in 1998. she now concentrates on video and photographic work, some of which
has been included in freeze,
dublin in 1999 and 2000, and she exhibited in the group exhibition 'utopias'
at the douglas hyde gallery.
she has made video works to accompany several hard sleeper. performances.
